Know who’s checking in before you give them access
Self-check-in has made arrivals easier for everyone. Guests don’t need to wait at a front desk, teams don’t need to coordinate every arrival, and digital guest experiences and smart access can take someone from booking to front door with very little manual intervention.
But removing the front desk doesn’t remove the need to know who’s actually checking in. For some operators, verifying a guest’s identity is part of meeting local requirements. For others, it’s about reducing risk and having more confidence in who’s being given access to their properties.
The challenge is doing that without putting manual work back into an arrival experience you’ve worked hard to automate. That’s where Guest Verification within Operto comes in.
Connect identity verification with property access
Guest Verification adds identity checks directly into the Operto guest journey. When it’s enabled for a property, guests can complete verification from their phone as part of their digital check-in, using an accepted government-issued ID and, when required, a selfie or biometric match.
Once the guest has been successfully verified, their property access can be released automatically. Instead of your team checking an ID, confirming the guest and then separately providing a door code, those steps can work together.
For operators, it creates a simple but important connection between the person who made the reservation, the person completing check-in and the person receiving access to the property.
Your team still has visibility throughout the process. Verification status is available for each reservation, and if something is flagged or can’t be verified automatically, the team can review it and step in when needed.
Make required guest verification easier to manage
Guest identity and registration requirements vary considerably depending on where you operate. In some countries and regions, collecting or verifying guest information is simply part of running a compliant hospitality business.
Those requirements can add a lot of manual work, particularly for operators managing multiple properties or running remote and self-service check-ins. Collecting documents, confirming identities and coordinating access isn’t difficult once, but doing it across every reservation quickly adds up.
Guest Verification gives Operto customers a way to bring more of that process into the same digital arrival experience they’re already using. Guests can complete required verification before they arrive, while operators can see whether verification is confirmed, pending or needs attention.
It’s especially useful for operators in markets with guest identity or registration requirements, including parts of Europe and other regulated hospitality markets, where removing manual steps from check-in can make a meaningful difference to day-to-day operations.
More confidence in every self-check-in
Compliance isn’t the only reason to verify a guest. For operators running remote or self-service properties, there can also be value in simply knowing who you’re giving access to.
A reservation tells you someone has booked the property. Identity verification adds another checkpoint before that person receives a door code. That can provide an additional layer of protection against fraudulent bookings, unauthorized guests and other situations where operators want more certainty before granting access.
And importantly, adding that checkpoint doesn’t mean bringing back a front desk or asking your team to babysit every arrival. Guests complete the process digitally, successful verification can trigger access automatically, and your team only needs to get involved when something requires attention.
A more complete arrival experience
Guest Verification fits into the arrival experience Operto customers are already using. Individuals can get the information they need for their stay through Operto Guest, complete identity verification when it’s required, and receive their property access through Operto Access, all as part of the same journey.
That means operators can add an important verification step without creating another process for their team to manage or another disconnected experience for the guest. It’s a more practical way to know who’s arriving, meet verification requirements where they apply, and make sure access is only going to the right person.
Guest Verification within Operto is powered by Chekin, bringing its document and biometric identity verification technology into the Operto guest and access experience.
Add Guest Verification to your Operto setup
If you’re already using Operto Guest or Access, Guest Verification can add another layer to the arrival experience you already have in place. And if guest identity requirements are creating manual work for your team, it may be an especially good fit.
